Chinese New Year Traditions

Heard that some old folks like to arrange 2 mandarin oranges one on top of the other and putting 3 peanuts near it for prosperity. Anyone heard of this?

Yes I have heard of it.. my aunt did it last year and won toto. I think I will do the same this year

Haha really? Never heard of this CNY tradition, why the stacking of mandarin oranges?

The 2 mandarin oranges on top of each other looks like numeric 8. So signifies "发". The 3 peanuts is to signify "生". Like growing more and more prosperous. I'm going to try this year and see if it's really true. Haha
