Spend most of my time on desk top and have apple mini.

Looking at getting getting another system which:
- I can carry for occasional travel
- View videos (offline and connected to external harddisk)
- 10" or more with keyboard input for emails
- Quick boot up time
- Able to connect to home monitor/tv, wireless keyboard and mouse
- Non windows OS, don't wish to bother with maintaining OS.

IF $ no problem get Mac Air but looking at other alternatives and wish to explore chromebook. Seeks like Acer and Samsung are popular choices, any feedback about these two?

Thanks

I have not used a notebook, but according to the review I have read so far. You can only run apps based on chrome browser, if you are more comfortable in using standalone software(non chrome browser apps) then I won't recommend you to use it. Also the storage is very small but you could put SD card for extra storage space. If you wouldn't mind running everything from chrome browser you may go ahead and explore it, since the price isn't very expensive either. You might also need internet access everywhere you go.

p.s. everything I share is solely my own knowledge only, some people may know more but I just roughly share what I know.

my gf has a chromebook 11 by HP and it can do what u need.

but i will recommend the acer c720 because the processor is much better than the HP.
Amazon.com : Acer C720 Chromebook (11.6-Inch, 2GB & 32GB SSD) : Computers & Accessories

HP chromebook 11 is seeker, has a better IPS screen but weaker processor.

- Its good for traveling, light
- u can view most video files via portable hdd offline
- its 11.6"
- boot time = less than 10 secs
- kb/mouse can. To TV, use chromecast
- Chrome os is maintenance free.

A huge plus point its cheap!
If willing to paymore, i recommend samsung's chromebook 2 , 13.3" for the full HD screen.
