Dear Member,

You received a warning for creating a thread alleging that members of a particular ethnic minority carry certain body odours.

Being a member for more than 13 years, you are expected to be aware of the remarks that the creation of such a thread will elicit.

With reference to the post I made yesterday,

[not racist] Why are Indians more prone to having BO? - www.hardwarezone.com.sg

Which part of the post indicates any racism?

This was meant to be a curious post eliciting feedback, and very careful language was used.

I received a 'warning' for this post, hence I'm asking for clarification.

As you rightly pointed out, it could well be 'alleged'.

It would be healthy to promote a debate from different perspectives, instead of suppressing discussion.

For example, there could be scientific explanation, culture, or inherent biases involved.

As I said, careful words were chosen to promote a debate, It was curiosity, not any intention to start or stir.

As a member MORE than 13 years in fact (the board restarted all join dates from 2000, when hwz started way before then), I am personally insulted to receive a warning for a scientific and/or cultural inquiry.

Analogy: There is a white elephant in the room. By not pointing it out, and pretending it does not exist does not bode well for our culture as a whole. As pointed out by many members, it is just shuffling things under carpet, which i guess you have been conditioned to do?

Kindly be more sensitive to other races.

Step back and think, the following topics would be deem inappropriate too:
[not racist] Why are Chinese more prone to gambling and greed?
[not racist] Why are Malays more prone to being lazy?
[not racist] Why are AngMohs more prone to having large nostrils?

Simply putting on a [not racist] tag and using proper language doesn't make the content of an article any less racist nor insensitive to other races. EDMW allows a wide range of discussion topics but those that provoke racial sentiments are frown upon.

Cheers. :)
