Microsoft Store - Buy Windows 8.1

I notice on the online store it says Windows 8.1 full version is for Windows 7 users only. But if its a full version not an upgrade, why does it say for Win 7 users only?

Also, I am using an iMac and intend to use Boot Camp and install Win 8.1 on a second partition. I understand I can opt to download the ISO installer from online store instead of using CD.

Unless memory fails me if not the last time I recall after running the Boot Camp installation within OS X it rebooted and I had to insert Win 7 CD which it booted off and then installed Win 7.

So if its an ISO installer, how do I boot up? Save the ISO on thumbdrive?

Either get a USB DVD-ROM drive, or use another computer to convert the iso into the usb format.

Trying to avoid external drive lor. Wasting money to buy one drive then use it for one installation.

Then will need to do it via USB thumbdrive.

Maybe try to get a Windows live image in USB form, then use it to extract the files from ISO into another USB drive and make the USB drive bootable. There should be instructions readily available online regarding the conversion of Windows installation CD/ISO into USB drive. :o

Sometimes it is simpler to get the external cd-rom drive. And it is not expensive
