hahaha ... I have been to Cherating and Bintan but about 5 years ago so info may be out dated
Cherating is much bigger than Bintan but further to get to - need to take flight (firefly).
Activities-wise basically the same but Cherating has additional like trampoline and also a bigger sea sports centre.
Didn't pay too much attention to be the rooms 'cos out of the rooms most of the time.
What you looking for actually?

we have positive experience with club med maldives thus want to try other resort
my friend went Cherating, she told me app 9 hours by car
most likely go Bintan as it is a lot nearer
travel fare should be cheaper as it is by ferry vs bali by flight
