Hi guys,
Me and my family are returning on 3 or 4th day of cny from Malacca and decide to have dinner in JB in the evening b4 coming back to sg. We are travelling on express bus from Malacca. Pls advise and recommend:
1. where to alight
2. which restaurant or food court/coffee shop. walking distant as lugguages and backpack are heavy ( not lavish dinner type, a simple one)
3. traffic congestion.
4. return bus and bus stop to woodland checkpoint
5. advisable to have dinner in JB.

Thanks.

Not advisable. Since the coach will send you back to Singapore, be thankful that your transportation back to this island is assured. You can expect massive jams on Day 3 or day 4 evening since these are Sunday and Monday. Do you want to run into complications while arranging your own transportation to cross the border? Nobody is certain at this point which restaurants will be open?

It is advisable to leave the place as fast as possible during that period. Especially if you are buying Malacca-SIN express bus ticket, there is no point to engage another transport to come back with luggages.

If the express bus final stop is SG, then eat in SG...

Let's take a look at the calendar
Thursday, 15th Feb - Chinese New Year eve
Friday, 16th - CNY
Saturday, 17th 2nd day
Sunday, 18th - 3rd day
Monday, 19th - 4th day

Malaysian Chinese in SG have long planned and booked their transport back home to Malaysia for the coming CNY celebration.
For the Chinese it is an auspicious occasion to celebrate the lunar new year with their families and/or parents.
If you follow the news u will have heard the china government faces a big headache every time during the lunar new year period, the additional resources, the accidents during their pilgrimage home, etc. T
the proportion of chinese working in Sg is not a small figure and their journey home is a peak for transportation operator to handle.
Many eateries here face a shortage of staff to open their business on the 2nd day lunar year day. You can imagine the difficulty you will face coming back to Sg on 3rd lunar year day.
The johore and woodland checkpoints will be crowded and be prepared for the worst, to queue long long for clearance.
Another transport rush and immigration headache was during the Hari Raya. A muslim friend said it was worth his while to rent a car and drove in early morning on both journeys to and fro.
