hey, i dont know if its the right place, but just want to warn people about this print shop at sunshine plaza (opp. NAFA at bencoolen street)
my friends and I went there to do printing for our storyboards on 12 of July 2010, A0 sized. Mine was 100 dollars since i printed 5 boards,
we were told to pay upfront the full lump sum before they printed by a male, i didnt catch his name but he was quite young, and wore spectacles, it was abit weird, but still not a big issue. note that we DEFINITELY checked our files before printing as it was a major submission (we are still in school), so the colors were right
we left it to print, and came back halfway to check the progress, we noticed that certain areas became tinted with blue, which was not the case in the files shown on the computer, we didnt want to confront the staff, (by then the male went to the outlet by the main road, we were on the inner outlet) and it was a female then, so being students, we just blatantly said hey the color is really weird, its turning blue-ish, that shouldnt be, to which the staff told us to come back later when it was done. We were thinking why is it that we cannot check the print progress, and that she ignored out comments and just told us to leave and come back
we came back later, and she told us to take our boards outside to do the lamination. I paid a hundred dollars, and i have to do this job? fine, we didnt say anything. The print is NOT under any protection, no plastic sleeves even, and she expects us to walk OUT to the other outlet. If the print were to be damaged on the way, i doubt they would cover the damages. Fine
We went out, to the outlet and saw the aforementioned male there, we told him the colors were off, and he immediately said that it was the settings in our file, and they just printed according to how it was. No, it was not the case, as I said earlier it DEFINITELY was not off color at all, im not even talking about contrast settings, just color alone. Fine, we asked if he could do anything about it, he said no. We left the boards to be laminated.
We were shocked, they literally man handled the boards, tossing it over the table, handling it very roughly. HELLO? the boards are NOT PROTECTED YET, the ink is still able to run! and you drag it all over? my friend's board was stacked vertically, like a column, and it fell, the staff totally ignored it, and only entertained the other adult customer. they would rather entertain someone doing a simple print, which probably costs at most 30 dollars, while they have us students who are forking out close to 300 dollars worth of prints. Nice.
Im not even talking about the quality, we have printed boards for the past three years for our projects, and we know when it will be our fault, this time, they didnt even bother to calibrate so that our print fits their printers. do they expect us to do all the calibration? if so, please dont charge me money, i dont want to be a customer who has to work to get my goods.
by the way, a few of my classmates have gone here before, just a day before us, his FATHER went with him, and he DID NOT get any issues, quality and service wise. whereas others who have gone before him encountered the same issue as us
it just shows that students are taken for granted, even if we have the money to pay for services. nice job
