Honestly, these quarterly gadget fairs have lost their charm. The price cuts aren't significant, and they’ve mostly morphed into lifestyle expos selling sofas, insurance packages, and mobile plans.
Back in the day, these shows actually stayed true to their name. These days, I’d rather check out the digital brochure first before deciding to make the trip.
Looking at overseas events like SDCC, MWC, CES, and Computex Taipei, Singapore has a great opportunity to revamp its expo model. Instead of repetitive quarterly fairs, Singapore could adopt a similar focused model by hosting dedicated quarterly expos:
March: PC & IT Gadget Show
May/June: Telco & Mobile Show (showcasing concept and flagship mobile tech), and have keynote speeches from Apple, Google, Samsung, Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Honor, etc.
September: Comic, Gaming & Cosplay Convention (featuring the World Cyber Games)
Nov/December: Lifestyle Fair
A structured lineup like this could truly establish Singapore as a premier regional hub for world-class expos.
