I have 2 sets of A5+, and their active amps are faulty. Where can I get help to convert them to passives?

the dealer should be able to do that for you ... my Aikimate Minis had the same issue, the dealer bypassed the internal amp . if I am not wrong, Audioengine has the same dealer as Aikimates

It's easy enough to DIY*. I lost my photos on how to do it already (Thanks imageshack) but it's simple enough to not need a guide to figure out anyway.

*Provided you own a soldering iron

The problem is the amp itself has EQ which you will need to add back somewhere somehow.

Not sure if Eng Siang can do that, but they quote me $400+ for repair plus labor

My soldering sucks :s13:. Saw youtube clips of people doing it, but not confident to do so myself.

Well looks like it doesn't need a soldering iron

The A5 version I converted had the crossover on the amp PCB so I had to do something about that. A5+ seems even easier.

All that's needed is the ring connector and a crimp which you can use any plier for, really.

I have an old pair of kef x300a
The usb board is wonky
Can I ask if you can covert them to passive or even fix that usb connection ?
Thanks 🙏

I don't see any connector that can be used as speaker connector, apart from the AC connector. With these kinds of speakers it is also 90% guaranteed to be using DSP and active crossover so we don't know what EQ it is using, and we will need to make a new passive crossover.

The caps look horrible quality so if you're lucky the defect is related.

I can pm you if you like
Basically there’s a clicking sound when you start it up
Like it’s trying to link up
Once it syncs it actually still works very well !
