some hawkers are indeed wealthy, but is the avg hwker? have u heard of their cries under the "social enterprise scheme"? if an avg hawker is really that profitable i can guarantee u many lower income will be running a stall;

again, how much taxes can the avg low income hawkers owe? without infinite resources there's no point investigating them

at least you have to admit that many people do not pay income tax.

if your food is good, you will be profitable as a hawker. not all low income people can cook. some people, like ivan lim, think that they are damn good. they cannot cook and yet want to be a hawker. these are the low income hawker.

gst will allow some of these rich hawkers to pay some taxes. and why these rich hawkers can siam tax. does are all powerful authorities check their bank accounts?

yes, you are right. unless it is a swiss account, our accounts can be checked. but do they have to resources to check each and every account?

Oh, that is coming real soon, if it is not already here, we do have that technology you know and it is not a difficult thing. Even swiss accounts are no guarantee of anonymity. The next step would be full digital currency, then the doors will be closed, no more leakage, no escape already, muahahaha.
