Ok, give it a shot later.

Does that mean the ram is spoiled?

I can't even go into dos mode.

I can't..

Can't even power into desktop.. how to list..

It's already a couple of years old rig..

Let me try the ram

How old is it? It could help us narrow down at least somewhere there. Or you could open up the casing and try to figure the parts and list them down? Is it a DIY build PC or branded PC like HP, Acer? If its those on the shelf kind, do list the model down.

It is possible that the RAM contact is loose/faulty hence unable to boot. Glad that the problem is solved.

on the motherboard, got 4 slot for ram.
2 blue and 2 white, its ok for me to mix them?

should i go and repair the motherboard?

actually it's not the first time i got this problem, although we seldom use the desktop.
purely for work related.

just check, my rig was built in 2012..

Okay lah, not exactly ancient.

Refer to mobo manual (download online if missing) for recommended ram configurations.

If it's working don't need to repair

Sent from microwave oven using GAGT

before repair, if problem appears again, take out ur rams and use soft eraser to rub against the ram pins.
if still got issue that means your dimm slots on your mobo got issue, if you using 2 pc ram change the slots, if 4 piece then i advice repair or change ur mobo.

How many RAM modules do you have? 1 piece or multiple piece? If 1 piece, it does not matter where you placed them. But if you have 2 or more, you have to place them in odd and even sequence; eg. slot 1 & 3, slot 2 & 4. You should use the colour coded sequence. It would be best to RMA (repair) the board, as you might or might not upgrade your RAM in future. If it is under warranty, you can save on the repairing fee.

But if it is out of warranty, then its pointless to repair. If your board is old and the distributor does not have a similar board, they would have to send overseas to repair and that would take at least a month or more.
