How can my countrymen in all their conscience support a government that is intolerant to views other than their own?

Why are ppl so eager to reject ppl willing to speak up for their own welfare in parliament? Are sinkies idiots?

There was once a poem by written by Pastor Martin Niemöller of that time:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out — Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out — Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out — Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.
