Hi all, heading down to sim lim tomorrow to accompany a friend interested in building a custom rig.

Mostly play games like Ark, CSGO, Dota2.
Have a budget of 3k, need everything except keyboard, mouse, speakers.

Would like to have a blue/black theme, 144hz monitor & gtx 1070.

Please recommend me builds that suit his requirement and a good store.

not a specs expert, but going by your budget it might sound u have not built in quite a few years. For an average rig, i would say thats almost double your needed budget.
I Dont think you need 3k for what ya mentioned but Ill let the experts chime in from here on as i can just help with what i know. In the old days we needed that kinda amount but 3K would garner you an insanely high end pc by todays standards.

Told my friend roughly 2k would be enough but he insisted on this budget so yeah :/

Wah that budget so high. You insist 2k he still want 3k, hell bent on spending?
6600k cpu. Or you want try 6700k?
Mobo depends on how much future expansion you want, future proof abit by getting z170 chipset to pair with OC'ing cpu(k-version)
Gpu can go 1080 alr..SLI x 2
Get a modular psu with 80 gold rating.
Can probably get 2 sticks 16g ddr4 3000Mhz CL15 RAM or save on this and spend on monitor.
Dual display/triple display?
Get ssd for OS - samsung Evo enough...
Hdd for data I guess he can go 4tb

Based on the games u stated that he plays, put budget at about 2.2k, should be able to get the rig plus a 144hz monitor as well.

For 144hz monitor, can consider AOC G2460PF, Asus VG248QE, BenQ Xl2411Z, all 3 are 24 inch monitors and cost about $470 range.

Just built a new rig, see the right. Total damage 3080. Note that many coupons and codes were used to maximise savings, but even without that, u can still hit the 3K goal by downgrading a 1080gtx to a 1070gtx, 6700K w watercooler to 6600 w air cooling, smaller PSU (550W will do for u).

I picked itx for the onboard wifi and Bluetooth especially BT cuz I was going to do wireless audio. WiFi will be nice to have but going wired for this.
