Day trips out of Taipei

Hi all i need help with planning day trips out of Taipei

I will be traveling to Taipei in End April and spend about 6 nights there. Unfortunately i can only plan for day trips out of taipei as i have already booked a hotel room in Taipei for the duration of the trip.

Anybody have any ideas about a day trip out of Taipei to places like Taichung, Jiayi etc? I have done some research on places like Cingjing farm, Alishan however they seem to be too far away from taipei and travelling will take too much time.

Taichung.. Can go sml if u book a driver or take a bus from there.. At night can actually stay one night at Taichung for the night market..

Day trips: yilan, taoyuan, hsinchu. Taichung can be done but still u need to leave very early to maximize your time spent there.

If you have money to burn, anywhere which is served by the HSR can be done as a day trip insofar as you leave early enough.

Hi flakkgot, you can take HSR from taipei to tauchung (1hr plus). Can engage a driver (tour guide) to bring u around - puli waterfall, carton king, small swiss garden and cing jing farm. As long as u start the trip at taichung hsr at 9am in the morning, can definitely cover it.

I just came back using roundtaiwanround service (roundTAIWANround). It was amazing. So would like to share my experience here. They provide phototaking service on top of normal driving/guiding etc. Of course, u need to pay for the entrance tix

The photo taken were awesome, like wedding photo.. hahaa!!

Go Hsinchu is doable also. I did just this once the weather forecast said it was sunny in Hsinchu while Taipei was rainy. So took HSR down to Hsinchu (30min) and then took the Taiwan Trip Bus (Go Bus) to Green World Ecological Farm. You can go straight on to Beipu to check out the cold spring with this bus as well. TWD100 for day ticket.

I will have another write up for Green World Ecological Farm. Can spend whole day there if you have children. The alpacas are very cute.

is it worth taking the day trip by all this bus or services? is it better to take by cab rather than bus
