Sidetrack a bit. Not saying dbs marketing team is wrong to target youth. I wonder have the card team wonder there exist a pool of retirees with cash that cannot use credit card unless secured. They even need manufacture salary to play games for some HYSA etc. This group may not have the monthly payslip stability but some of them are debt free e.g house pay finish no car or car pay finish children earn own monies etc. They got cash so why so few credit card targeting this group beside the secured approach?

The 30k requirement is not a bank/DBS requirement is a MAS requirement.

If you do not have recurring income , means the bank cannot be assured that you have a stream of income to pay back the credit bal on the card. Hence, need to place funds to securitise the credit line.

And as you say if all these people have no worries abt money, then placing 10-20k in FD shouldnt be an issue.

simple things also whining.
