I looked at my Win 11 Task Manager and it's showing that my RAM's running at 4800 MHz.
I've already gone into BIOS and enabled everything possible to make it run at 5600 MHz - manually setting the frequency, enabling EXPO, enabling high voltage mode, but it's still stuck at 4800 MHz. Any ideas on what else I could try?

AMD ryzen 9 7900 + msi mag b650m mortar
gskill flare x5 2x 32gb 5600c36 ddr5

Thanks!

You can test with loose timings to see if it would boot. 5600 MHz should be easily doable.

maybe you forgot saved bios after setting?

usually ram settings if unstable, will hang at posting, did you observe your board auto reset to defaults?

Reseat your rams. Make sure it's fully plugged in and the latches on both sides are secured.

Either here or the top button where you can click A-XMP/EXPO.
Remember to save the BIOS setting either through menu.
Or hot key F10.

Maybe the xmp freq and timing is too high? try load xmp with its relevant voltages, then lower down frequency to like 6000. That should be quite workable for 2x32.

How can DDR5 run at 4000 mhz, I thought the min was already 4800 mhz?

Or do you mean your 2 x 32GB rams are rated at 8000 mhz and you already halved the speed which is what most monitoring software will report?

Lowest DDR5 speed is PC5-32000, which is 4000.

Which motherboard are you using?
As the BIOS setting for XMP are different for different brands.
MSI one is above, ASUS one will be easy is under AI Tweaker.

You can go down to the RMA centre for your RAM and let the guys there test it on their testing benches. If it works, then it could be a problem with the CPU or Motherboard.
Then, you can send the Motherboard with the CPU and RAM attached to the MOBO RMA centre and let them test the CPU+RAM on both your MOBO and on their testing bench and let them come to a conclusion if the MOBO or CPU needs to be exchanged. If you're lucky, it's the MOBO, then problem solved. For Asus, Ban Leong, and for MSI, your RMA centre, should be able to do a 1-to-1 exchange on the spot (provided you come down on the day they emailed you to come down if they have stock of your MOBO) and your issue is resolved.

My first batch of Asus Z790 Maximus Extreme also had issues and I came down after they emailed me that the new Z790 stocks have arrived so I can exchange my MOBO with it. PS, you get to keep certain accessories if you'd like. Just ask them on the spot if you can. I kept a spare DIMM.2 card in case if mine failed and I got a spare to exchange it with or maybe in the future, the solution is more DIMM.2 cards and I have a spare to use with instead of buying an extra DIMM.2 off the shelf.
