the alpine route will be difficult coz the start and end point is very far apart and u will have problem getting back to the starting point within the same day. tt is the reason why they have same-day luggage forwarding service from one end to the other

Actually is possible....the train from Matsumoto to Shinano Omachi is one hour and the return journey from Toyama to Matsumoto is 2hrs via the new Shinkansen service from Toyama to Nagano...it wouldn't be possible to make the return trip to Matsumoto in under 3hrs when there want Shinkansen services ..but now you can do that in just 2hrs plus

u are rite. I forgot all about the new shinkansen.
last time it would have taken a few transfers, and the timings of the transfers would make the journey almost impossible to be completed in a day

ahh..bb alpine route..

In 2015, the entire route is scheduled to be open from April 16 to November 30.

bro, is it advisable to stay at Shinsaibashi area in Osaka?

Understand it isnt JR line. How to manage the railpass?

alpine route closed in winter :(

shinsaibashi has lots of shops and eateries so it will be good. can always walk to Namba station for JR trains

planning for railpass now but very confusing.

I will be going to okayama and himeji so i get the 5days kansai wide area pass right? is this in card form, like i can top up $$ into this card after this 5days?

And, i will also be going to Takayama, Kanazawa, Shirakawago, Nagoya.
Which card will be better? Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass? So within nagoya city itself , i have to buy single ticket?

thanks :(

JR pass is usually just a piece of paper card, u cannot top-up $$ into the card. u need to buy a store-value card such as SUICA or ICOCA separately.
Takayama, Kanazawa, Shirakawago are all day trips from Nagoya?
can show ur current itinerary?

yup, u can use the SUICA card.

u may want to use the JR West Kansai Hiroshima Area pass to cover the Hiroshima portion. and shift the Himeji/Okayama day next to Hiroshima so it can be covered as well. will be better to stay in Hiroshima instead of making multiple day-trips

for the Chubu areas, u can use Takayama-Hokuriku Area pass

AHH YESS. thanks!

Now decided to go over to Hiroshima upon arriving from Osaka Itami Airport for 3D2N then move to stay at Osaka.

Since we will be using our own suica card, how do i get to Hiroshima from itami airport?

the Takayama-Hokuriku Area pass, i can use suica card for that area too ?

suica is just a store value card like our ezlink.
for Hiroshima it is still advisable to get the jr kansai Hiroshima pass coz the cost of taking shinkansen from Osaka to Hiroshima and back is already more than the cost of the pass.

Takayama-Hokuriku Area pass shld cover almost all of the transport u need for those few days. u can use ur suica card for some of the private lines that are not covered by the pass if necessary
