Hi mods, I am posting here cos maybe other edmwers would like to chime in as well so hence I don't send as a PM.

Lately, I realise that certain threads have been locked and deleted with no explanation given. I would like to suggest the following.

I know some EDMWers are trollers and there is the doxxing law. Instead of locking an deleting the offending thread, may I suggest

1). Mods to post on the thread of its reaching a certain level of nuisance so all can see what is happening?

2). Lock the offending POST so people Cabot quote it for reply and state why it is locked.

3). Delete the offending POST so people cannot see it. Then state why it is deleted. Better than deleting the entire thread.

4). If there is an absolute reason why this thread has to be deleted, maybe you can delete it and put in a sticky thread that says this thread is deleted because police report was made etc etc so we all know what happened and WHY it happened.

Obviously there will be people who just won't listen then your ban hammer can come in. Or legal action if it really goes too far (defamation, for example).

Just my two cents.
From my post history, you know I generally don't troll people or post nonsense so I am a bona fide genuinely concerned poster.

Actually I think not really but I admit I never hear much on deleted posts. More on deleted threads.

Perhaps point 4 should be done more? A sticky thread to say why a particular thread was deleted? You can ban replies if necessary but at least it is there.

I know in your sticky post you did put about doxxing but some may be unaware cos they are pasting things already on public domain, example the recent case. It's already on Facebook.

We probably have done point 4 before but a lot of folks here don't read.

And also because we are trying to minimize damage - if we were to state reason in some other sticky thread, people are going to discuss more, which is countering to what the main objective is - to stop the discussion due to reasons like legal, privacy etc.

We most of the time wait for people to ask. Depending on case by case, we will explain and then lock the thread which posed the question. To be on the safe side.

This place here is like HYDRA, you cut 1 head, another 100 pops up.

I think point 4 should be done more. A sticky thread, even if people don't read, some will read and accept.

I see your other points. But I foresee a problem. Any thread that is of public interest, can easily be derailed by a few people who just post certain things cos this will cause the thread to be locked and deleted. And this is counter productive to an internet forum.

And I think it has been done before.

Generally we just delete offending posts, or ban trouble maker from thread.
If the whole thread is already completely full of offensive posts, we just thrash it cause too much work to remove them.

sometimes, if there are too many reports, may temp lock for review.

for other cases Mod O have already explained why we cant let a thread live. in any case, you can use feedback forum or PM us also.

Pls do not go open thread in EDMW to ask.
