edit: on hindsight, the U2414H, suddenly seems attractive now @339, is the leap to 1440p worth it?

Hard to decide? Are you serious? They are both totally different aim of monitor, you should go Google which one is for what, I did my homework

Agreed. I got the HM version is the more 'casual' and cheaper monitor. Simply no fight. Still a fantastic, highly-rated monitor.

There should be no 'difficulty in deciding' - it's either you need the H for work-related stuff or just go for the HM (for gaming and internet surfing).
