Desktop audio problem?

Watching shows halfway, my sound suddenly gone, only can hear the background music. Cant hear people talking. Happens in games too.

Only when i max out the volume on my desktop and/or vlc then the audio seems to pop back.

Kinda like when you yawn on the plane to make your ears pop. Weird, any idea what's wrong?
