TS what audes bkshelf you heard? Thoughts of it?

I have not heard this amp but if you looking for something of a small footprint and with good feedback is the nuprime ida-8, digital amp with integrated DAC and subwoofer out, here got sell

I am not sure how digital amp will sound paired with ATC because ATC sound is more transparent and not so warm.

Thanks! I'd ditch the sub of course, if I get a pair of speakers that gives me satisfactory low end (the Mackies don't have the punch with only 4" woofers).

As for the Swans, I don't really want a 2.1 system with a floor mounted sub unit. The reason I got the PSB Subseries 100 was that it's small and compact and I can tuck it on my desk, out of sight behind the monitor I know it's not the best place for the sub, but I love the bass it gives and my issues is more with the Mackie's mid and highs

2. That PSB is a toy. 5.25" woofer? You get 2 x 5.25" woofers with the M200 if you bother to research about this product.
3. You still don't get it, your mid and high is "muddy" because of your PSB. Switch it off and it will solve the prob.

Thanks Phil. Sorry, I assumed it was one of those 2.1 PC speakers, so thanks for the note. I will take note and audition them as well, they do look really well built and the reviews on the music quality are all excellent.

Auditioned the 106 I believe. The sound reproduction was pretty clear, listening to Diana Krall the vocals sounded pretty warm (it was amped by a hybrid tube/SS amp). Projects a wide soundstage. It was only a 10 min audition so these were my impressions.

My current set up is stereo amp + bookshelves but curious about whether the other combinations sound any better .

Depend on your source and usage.
If music, a stereo amp + bookshelf/standing speaker will do.
Other setup are for movies like 5.1.

Let's me put it plainly. Using PC as a source is always a compromise. Using your current setup and changing to an alternative one like Chromecast audio would unlock its full potential.

No point. Its bass performance is limited by woofer size and cabinet volume. Speaker design is not rocket science.

My current set up is Cambridge audio sx 50 speakers with denon m39 stereo receiver.

PC to receiver via spdif
Chromecast audio to receiver via analog 3.5mm to rca

Can elaborate why Chromecast audio is superior as a source compared to PC? Isn't the source still from your phone?

PC is a "noisy" source electrically compared to a dedicated audio source like media player or chromecast audio. The latter can stream music directly via Spotify and even FLAC from a NAS. A PC setup often forces the user to compromise on equipment placement and listening sweet spot, too.

For the same amount of $$$, you're better off with a separate hifi free from all these constraints. Picture getting a million dollar hypercar to drive locally. You'll never be able to unleash it true potential on our traffic lights-infested roads.

SPDIF provides galvanic isolation, which is why I usually recommend it over USB DACs or as a solution when people's speakers are hissing.

Audio over TCP/IP adds latency. Not an issue for music playback, but problem if you need the sound to be synchronised with the computer screen.

Are you connected to your PC's Audio out and Microphone In?

Any headset from mobilephone will do. You will need a 3.5mm headphone/microphone splitter like in this link [Carousell].

The earpieces/headsets for handphones or those you can purchase, made for handphones has TRRS connection, which has 3 rings on the jack. Some laptop support that type of connection but PCs still has the Audio Out and Microphone in seperated. Thus you need a TRRS to 2x TRS splitter.
