So, I have my 4690k running at 4.2ghz at 1.13v. I've been wondering if I should push it a bit further though.. I have the hyper 212x cooler and I use intel burn test for stress testing. Highest temp is 70c on hottest core.

http://valid.canardpc.com/ch6wu5 - a few days ago but CS:GO apparently doesn't like low voltages. Caused a error 124 bsod.

What's your overclock?

running at 4.5ghz at less than 1.25 (forgot exact). you have a lot of room :D:D

go aio water cooling, then push it further...

Nah, this system's plenty cool at the moment and I feel that I would be better off spending my money on something else at the moment. I'd be okay with 4.2ghz (mostly gaming and a bit of video editing), but for kicks maybe 4.4 GHz someday.

running 4.5ghz at 1.22v :)
h100i

What's the temps of your chip when stress testing?

Anyway, I was wondering, will too low a voltage kill the cpu in the long run, or is it high voltage and high temps?

If I could, I would undervolt and get the highest clock that I could get at that voltage, but eh.

Change input voltage to 1.73v see will bsod or not.

If stable, may wan to lower it to within 0.4-0.6v of ur vcore.
If still crash/bsod/hang, add more vcore.

If wan 4.5ghz and test temperature, can try 1.17-1.18 vcore. But recommend to keep ur cpu cool

Finished testing use adaptive voltage and enable eist and c states to save power and idle when not running application

My setting
4.5ghz core 1.165v offset 0.005
4.3ghz uncore 1.135v offset 0.005
Vccin 1.76

Heh, strange. The minimum voltage that core temp seems to be displaying is 1.1116v. I adjusted vcore to around 1.04v (1.05 vcore still displays 1.1116v).and input voltage to 1.75v (1.73v will cause bsod when stress testing). Would test the voltages with hwmonitor later.

if i not wrong is around 70c plus when stress test

u using manual or adaptive?
adaptive will show higher than what you set when stress testing.

check e correct value vcore at cpu-z
as long as dun go over 2.1v on vccin will do. ideal range is 0.4-0.6 abv vcore

For some reason, adaptive mode tends to add 0.1-0.13 on the vcore when doing adaptive testing.

because of avx programs will cause higher voltage than wad u set in adaptive.
stress test on manual finished then change to adaptive.

manual first. everything stable then can go change to adaptive.

PS: ps, sglords already posted the same thing.

Adaptive. At the moment I'm sticking with 1.75v vccin and around 1.13v vcore.
