I haven't been able to find a thread on the same topic.

Are you obliged to tell your existing insurer about a new health condition like diabetes ? Have been paying hospitalisation insurance few years already for a family member who now has been diagnosed with diabetes!

Just declare, but it doesnt matter as its happening after plan incepted. If its before plan incepted then got big issue

read your policy document to see whether it requires you to declare new conditions after the plan has started. the policy document also defines what is a 'pre-existing condition.'

Curious, does it mean that if you test beyond the normal range you must declare?
So blood sugar just cross the normal range, then need to declare?
I know a friend who was asked to take cholesterol medication but refused, wanted to manage by lifestyle changes. Must declare?

see if there's a diagnosis. you can have hbp, cholestrol, glucose, literally everything. and you tell doctor u dont want to eat meds, doesnt mean you are not diagnosed with said illnesses.

There’s no contractual obligation to inform the insurer of your diagnosis after the purchase unless it happens so soon after the application then insurers might be suspicious.

Otherwise, just manage the condition until a claim is needed.

Once a claim is made the insurer know and the next subsequent premiums may increase but I guess that is normal

E.g my spouse hospital rider which got 100 per day stay benefit. Once claim the insurer inform in future for the same illness stay hospital will not get 100 per day unless pay much higher premium for that illness.

Diabetics are almost automatically declined for many of the insurance plans with the exception of cancer specific ones. It’s by far the most damaging condition because of its possible implications.
