Did i just purchase the wrong case?

hi all,

i was looking around and i thought i bought the right case for myself. now, i'm thinking how do i get additional USB 3.0 and card readers in the front panel? there's a slot for 5.25 bay but that means i have to forgo the front panel?

I don't see any 5.25" drive bay for this Case... can't put additional card readers or USB in the front panel..

Just get USB extension and a usb card reader, put them on the desk?

bay comes separate with it. was thinking of the front panel option. if no choice, have to resort to the external peripherals.

I wonder why didn't you ask yourself that question before you bought the case. If you're unsure, you can always download the manual from their website and assess its suitability.

I am using a Coolermaster Master Box 5 (Model No. MCY-B5S1-KWYN-04) and it comes with the 5.25" drive bay. Other variants of the case do not come with the drive bay, and has to be obtained separately. I do not know if the local distributor have it.

Front ports are fixed. See if your mobo has any additional USB connectors, and if you have the peripheral to utilise the additional USB input via the back of the case.

For card reader, I am using a Transcend RDF9K. Read/write is at 260/190MB/s. Around $40-ish at challenger. This card reader has slower variants at 130/90 MB/s read/write.

i did and it said 5.25" Drive Bays "Cages are sold separately". oh well aesthetics over convenience this time i guess.

i was looking to see if i can just buy the front panel of the Masterbox 5. Only difference is the mesh outlook. thanks for the card reader model you've mentioned. will see if this fits my needs.

If you've already purchased the case and set up your rig, just go with your USB external solution.

hahah. actually why i wanted the 5.25 bay is because i still buy music CDs as opposed to digital and rip them off so now i can't do it as convenient. but i'll get around it

Buy the CD. Download the EAC. Same outcome. More convenient.
