[DIY] Gaming Rig Recommendations

Hi Bros out there,

Need help to build a new rig for 2015.

- Prefers red/black theme
- For some light gaming (E.G CS-GO) & maybe some heavier gaming in the future(E.G BF,Farcry)
- Prefers Fractual Arc Midi R2/Corsair 350D (Casing)
- Would like to include a Hyper 212x Cooler (For red LED fans)
- Monitor to be included

** Quick check
I do have a Windows 7 OEM however my hard disk died. Will I be able to use back the same product key for the SSD(My HDD died)? If yes, how do I go about doing that.

Will the below mentioned build able to last me for, lets say 2-3years?
Or will I have to increase the budget for a better GPU.

CPU+MB: ASROCK B85 KILLER + i5-4460 @ $386
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 (2x4GB) @ $115
GPU: Powercolor R9 280 3GB @ $285
SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB @ $160
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB @ $72
ODD: Samsung 24X CD/DVD Writer [OEM] @ $21
PSU: FSP Aurum 500W 80+ Gold @ $89
CASE: Fractual Arc Midi R2 @ $139
Cooler: Hyper 212x @ $57
DSP: Dell S2340L 23" LED [eIPS] @ $199

Total : $1523 (Prices from PCTheme)

Many Thanks:D

Paying so much for a 750 Ti is super silly when you can get a much faster R9 280 for $10 more. The mobo also too expensive but who am I to judge if u wanna go for color theme.

Drop the cooler its not necessary for a locked chip. You can save money with same components if you buy from tradepac, as well as a cheaper motherboard, but both of these are personal preference(red/black theme) so i wont say anything.

However, a 750ti for 275 is you paying alot for little in return, recommended change to a powercolor r9 280 for 285 instead. Otherwise more or less a good build

I think he wants the cooler just to mount a red led fan onto rather than for extra cooling.

I think the 750Ti is there cuz its red for a theme build

thats cute :s13:

But the powercolor is also red/black, kinda?
And well, i guess after market coolers do provide benefit such as lower dB noise.

But yeah 750ti will struggle in current and upcoming games, its like what? almost half the performance of 280?

that's right bro. It's more for the red LED fans rather than cooling.

For the r9 280 . You guys referring to power color r9 280 3GB?

And also for the mobo. Any other similar red/black theme which is cheaper?

Any idea regarding the windows?

Thanks for the replies/comments/recommendations

Thats right, its still red black, altho the msi card looks better designed. But the performance difference is like night and day
