those using tecware void, is there no way of putting an optical drive? is USB optical drive the way to go now?

Well there is an option to put but u will need to sacrifice the front panel glass and the top fan

Any brand will do. Samsung, asus, etc. Just need to make sure of its advertised speeds.

I hope you're good at cable management and your chassis of choice have psu shroud. These are full black cable but non-modular:

EVGA BV500: SRP $79
(80+ Bronze rating, 3 years warranty)
EVGA GD550: SRP $109
(80+ Gold rating, 5 years warranty)

thanks! it has a shroud. with EVGA, what's the difference between 500 B1 and BV? from the website, it looks like the color of the braid on the cables are different and some cables given to B1 but not to BV.

Other than the cable colour and some minor connectors, nothing is different. However, I do recommend you getting the 80+ Gold psu.

Otherwise, if you bump your budget just a little bit, get the Superflower Leadex Silver 550W /650W. 80+ Silver with 5 years warranty, full black modular cables. Prefer that than this 2 EVGA models. But finding it is harder coz it always run out of stocks.

This is the gold version. Silver version is cheaper but seldom available now. Once a while I can see it available in PC Themes. If your budget can handle, getting the Gold version Superflower. Otherwise, EVGA GD550 is good enough as well.

If you intend to use high end gpu (gtx 1080 ti tier) and overclocking a cpu like a Ryzen 7, or just wanna have room for upgrading higher end/power hungry parts, then get the 650W. If you don't plan to overclock cpu, use a mid high to high end gpu (up to gtx 1080) then 550W is enough.

Performance wise in terms of efficiency, almost the same. No notable difference on real life usage. Both same 5 years warranty if I'm not wrong.

FYI, pricing for Superflower Leadex Silver 650W should be about $129 if I remember correctly. So take note of the price.

Otherwise stick to initial plan. EVGA GD550 (80+ Gold, non-modular, all black cables, 5 years warranty, cheap)

yeah most probably this. it's just that the modular of Superflower Leadex has illuminated cables which is kindof a cool feature to have.

If you just purely use ps and lightroom go coffelake 6core. Its faster.

If you do a bit of video editing, rendering, 3d modeling then get ryzen r5 or r7.

Ryzen 5 especially is super laggy for old ps build cs6, the new cloud version don't lag though, if your using the new cloud version its ok to get r5.
