It is recommend if you change motherboard is always best to reinstall Windows.
Unless it is a totally same motherboard than don't need but still if the OS have been install many years
prior opt to do a clean install.

So usually do yo reinstall Windows after motherboard or just leave it as it?
Even if want to leave it as it, have to check under device manager there are any exclamation mark
as some driver may not be installed properly.

Is not up to us to understand, it's up to individual who needs to understand. there is no right or wrong. for a SI stand point, yes we know how important it is to do fresh install of os, updating drivers, security patches or even netframe to be updated properly, when installing new mobo and such, but for end users or someone who started building PC, they do not know, they will only know when they encounter issues. Example, you have a kid, you tell the kid "hey don't touch the pot of water while it's boiling in a stove , it's hot". He will never understand what is "hot" unless he or she touches it.

Majority of end user's don't really care about driver's mambo jumbo. All they care are their data intact, pc can use to perform their needs, that's all, that why Windows develop from time to time using generic drivers which allows pc to function. a very good example (not too sure have you used this OS) the experience of Win 95 or Win 98, how was it different from Windows 10 or Windows 11? For Windows 10 or 11, You will be able to use it straight just by using Generic drivers, as for win 95 or 98, you will have headaches installing plus configuration (especially with IRQs)

Sometimes we can't expect others to know what you know. They have their ways and means with PC building or apps installation. Just point out and share, there is nothing to feel "why they are so stubborn or whatsoever" Just share your KB and full stop. it is for them to execute as they want or how to.

Erm...
No and yes
I format not because of mb change but be because partition change possible due to additional nvme slot

You might feel the chipset detection is wrong but that doesn't mean you cannot run detect hardware changes then install related chipset drivers

Older Windows I do format because the CPU support doesn't change automatically and I feel iffy doing registery hacks

No, not anymore..... Windows 10 is able to detect and install drivers for you these days.

The bigger problem isnt reinstall. ITs windows license.

If you are in the same group like me, few years change 1 motherboard, then yes, will do a fresh install of windows.

If you are someone who change motherboard like changing underwears, then you would have know which is better.
