My 9 years old Westie has been diagnose with cataract in both eyes since last year. This year, she seems to get worse cos she started peeing on anything that looks bark & rectangular like her pee tray.
I have went to Mount Pleasant at Jln. Gelenggang & they quoted 1 eye for S$4000. Is this a regular price or are there cheaper pricing out there (with just as good results)?

Thanks for your recommendation. I used to see Dr Ly previously however, over the years, I felt that he has become more commercialized. My previous dog was well taken care by him before but that was 10 over years ago. He did a bad job for a surgery (4 years ago) for my current dog & there was recurrence of growth immediately the next year.

Anyone else with any other recommended vet?

Dr Robyn Stanely is the best for ophthalmic surgeries. Post surgery, should Dr Stanely be away from Singapore, you may be advised to consult Dr Heng.

I believe there's no accredited eye specialist in Singapore. Or any specialist at all. The vets here just have their field of preference. If I remember correctly, Dr heng is the short haired lady vet who understudies Dr stanely who should be australian.

Just go to a vet who had more experience one. There are too many new vet so go find one who had been in this field for many year.

If me, I will ask my regular vet who I see him for past 10year.

Why does your dog have cataract in the first place? Underlying disease?

Dr Rui Oliveria from Ambervet.
Do check with the clinic when he would be in.

interesting. i may wan to seek 2nd opinion. the vet, that i consulted, told us that our dog is completely blind liao.

just find it too soon, from 2 mths before we took over from the prev owner, i learnt that she had some eye inflection, but other that seems fine. 2 mths later, when we took over, she had the cataract, then few mths later, we brought her to vet and she told us its completely blind.

If blood test say not suitable than no choice.
Maybe put eye drip to slow down is the choice.

that means have to just wait to be blind :(
its so bad now, her left eye is so dry and it keeps having eye discharge. it dries up so fast that it has to be cleaned every few hours.
