Any web hosting company to recommend for { example.com.sg } domain transfer ?

I used to pay SGD$39 but Webhost want to charge SGD$60 per year for renewal. Is this a fair price ?

Tip number 1: Always buy/transfer at an accredited domain registrar and not a web hosting company because they will hold your domain ransom if you try to cancel web hosting service with them.

usually its first year where registrar gave hefty discount then back to normal registrar price for the following yearly renewals. Even if you transfer away your domain, the transfer base price will probably be roughly be the same.

You can check https://tld-list.com for the price of your LTD but be reminded the first cheapest rank doesn't mean its the best registrar.

I would recommend NameCheap to transfer your domain to.

Domain registrars like NameCheap or Porkbun often have better deals compared to hosting companies. However, if you’re running a business and need reliable hosting along with your domain, it’s worth considering providers that offer scalable and secure solutions.

For dedicated hosting and cloud services, I've had a good experience with ServerMania. They offer customizable server options and good bandwidth, which is useful if you're managing high-traffic websites or applications. Might be worth checking out if you need a robust hosting environment.

There are a lot more to lose when a hosting company fails to deliver for its SLA, to get the domain also locked down by the hosting company denies the owner from easily switching the hosting to another better company with better SLA and/or features.

Generally one can easily mapped a domain bought from a particular registrar to another DNS provider like Cloudflare or AWS Route53. Keeping the domain name registrar separated from the web/service hosting and also the DNS service provider provides flexibility for the owner to easily switch services that have more impact to the business or service.

For example, my domain is bought from Godaddy, but the DNS service is provided free from Cloudflare. my email service on that domain is hosted by Google App. Anytime I don’t like what Google App is providing with me for email service, I can always change instantly without any lock down on my domain name. There is very little to demand from Godaddy for my domain when it comes to SLA for name resolution performance because it is provided by Cloudflare. I could have change it to AWS Route53 if I really need it.

Hosting reliability is segregated from domain name registry and also segregated from domain names resolution.
