Double Degree or Second Major??

Hi guys,

I have been given a place in NTU's Mechanical Engineering Degree. However, I have yet to accept the offer. I am still thinking if I should appeal to get a Double degree for mechanical engineering & economics, or a second major in economics with Mechanical engineering. What are the differences between double degrees and second majors? Is taking a double degree/second major tedious?? Will it help in anyway for me to land a job in Singapore?? Really need advice from the seniors here. The deadline is 2nd of june

A good honours is much much more useful than second degree or second major.

a good honor with double deg or second maj is worth more than a single good honors.. provided they complement.

It depends if you can cope with the additional workload. Maybe you should accept NTU mechanical engineering single degree first, then after 1st sem you decide if you could handle the workload. You can opt for 2nd major then. You will nevertheless still land on a job after you grad but just that salary differ depending on your honours class esp in public sector. Concentrating on a single degree might be good after all if you cannot cope with so many modules in a sem.

Mmm, it'll be good if I can cope. But I won't know till I start the course. What is the criteria to take a second major after the course has started?? Also, the number of modules it has as compared to a double degree.
