Dry Cabinet help!!

Hi all.. i just brought my dslr yesterday and they gave me a free dry box. Akurui 26L. now i'm troubled over the dry box. i have some questions to ask so hopefully someone can answer me as i'm very new to dslr.


1. the dry box keep going to 70 % lowest the lowest is 50% and won't drop anymore. what should i do?
2. do i have to on my dry box 24 hours? is it ok to off and put my camera in??
3. lets say the dry cabinet is already stable at 50%, but when i open it shoots up to 70/% . is my dry cabinet spoil? it's either at 40% or 70%, i can't seem to get it over at 45 to 50%.

set it up (optimal is about 45 ~ 53% humidity), let it run for 24 hours or more to stabilize to your settings.

Once you open the door, humidity goes up as external air (your room air) goes into the cabinet. This is perfectly normal.

And yes, you have to let it run 24 x 7 so that it keeps moisture out of your cabinet. The power consumption is really low, so don't worry about your electricity bill.

Thanks! my dry cabinet is quite stable now.. just tt whenever i open the cabinet, (as in open widely less then 10 seconds) the RH can go up to 70 to 80% and i have to wait very long for it to go back to normal.

Can i put back the lens if the RH hasn't drop??

You are over worrying...

Like I said previously, the RH shoots up cos you open the cabinet. The air in your room goes into the cabinet. After you close it, your cabinet starts to work to dry up the moisture in it. That's when the RH goes down again.

If your lens can survive being in the air in your room, why will the air in your cabinet kill it when it's RH is the same as your room?

Don't worry too much about fungus growth.
My D7000 has not been in my cabinet for at least half a year, and it's still healthy. My prime lens has not been in it for at least a year, and I seldom use it too.

So long as you take care of your equipment, they will "stay healthy" too.
