What's the advantaged of having or installing 2 graphic cards? I'm using asrock z77 and my graphic card is sapphire 7850 oc edition 2gb. Should I just keep it, install one more of the same graphic card or get a new graphic card? Mainly used for gaming.

Advantage is look more satki, and more juice to power your game lo. But you need to make sure you have enough power in your psu and also adequate cooling in your casing. Oh and also rmb crossfire is not yet fully support by some games and might also have issues like microstuttering.

If I were you, I would just leave it a single 7850 since its still powerful enough to run most games. Imo, I think sli or xfire is for people who want the rig to look more satki or for people who feel that they still do not have enough juice to power their work or games even with the latest single gpu.

Hope this is helpful but this is just my opinion

For me the keyword is 'overkill, but for a purpose. What 2 GPUs can do for graphics-demanding titles like the Crysis/Metro series - to run them smoothly at 60 fps at max detail - they are overkill for other mainstream titles like the COD/MOH/BF etc series. Other less demanding mainstream titles, you won't even need to check their minimum/recommended specs anymore. If you play games w/o AA then 2 GPUs would be even more overkill. In the long run, what you gain is your rig will be able to play almost all mainstream games at max detail, and for a longer period of time. But if all you play are non-graphics demanding games then 2 GPUs is a waste of money. But as Heng mentioned, be mindful that power & heat will be an issue when you intro 2 GPUs into your rig. In other words, some of your other PC components will also need to be overkill, esp your PSU. I have 9 fans inside my casing and even so I hit 80C under load.

I think dual graphics card are for demanding games and mainstream games now if you want to play in high resolution. such as 1440p or multiple screen. and of course for looks and satki-ness

if not, single card solution is the best.

Suggest that you just upgrade to a more powerful single gpu like the r9 290 or 780ti if you wan better performance. Should be powerful enough for youe gaming le. Double gpu is not always a viable option as you are not fully utilizing the 2nd gpu. Only upgrade to double gpu if 780ti or 290x performance is not enough for your usage.

To go dual gpu is a needs like a 1440p/4k monitors gaming.

For 1080p a gtx780 is already a bit overkill.

sli/crossfire usually can get better performance/price than 1 card. but the performance also not scale 2x. if money no issue get 1 high end instead of 2 mid end. 1 card less problem.

Using 290 and 1440p monitor. Can already max out at 60fps. My monitor can oc but I didn't. Once u go 1440p and 120hz u won't wanna go back to 1080p
