first time setting up dual screen. gonna need some clarification.
first monitor has no issue.

I'm wondering how do I go about connecting the second monitor.
I got a both VGA and HDMI cable. The HDMI slot as per picture (2nd row, middle) is taken up by the first monitor already.

1) Can I confirm that for the second monitor, it should be connected to the DVI port (2nd row, extreme right)?
2) If I'm correct, it means that I will need a VGA to DVI or HDMI to DVI adapter? Which one is recommended?

appreciate any help. thanks in advance.

I bought a HP Envy. It didn't come with any adaptor so I'm gonna get it if that's the way to go for the second monitor to work. :)

What kind of monitors are you running? If you have a DVI connection on the monitor, it's better to use a DVI cable, which is a digital signal.

Note DVI comes in many variants. THere is DVI-DL, DVI-SL and others. Many monitors and GPUs employ DVI-DL.

My monitors,
1) HP Pavilion 23cw (23-inch IPS LED Backlit Monitor)
2) HP Pavilion w2207h

Both the monitors do not have DVI connection. only HDMI and VGA.
Any recommendations on choosing option 1: VGA to dvi or option 2: HDMI to dvi?

Thanks.

HDMI to DVI. VGA is obsolete today.

Have you tried Dx.com or ebay?

If you want it fast, try Sim Lim Sq 6th floor shops.
