I like to use set up a EGPU for my XPS 15 (9560). I want to use the laptop screen. This means that bandwidth is much limited.

Is there are any eGPU on there that is on a budget?

Most new EGPU goes for 500 dollars. I am hoping to get something down to 200 dollars (used). Then get a used GTX 1070 to run.

Thanks!

While eGPU have been in the market for some number of years, till now I still don't think they are worth buying. The key problems are,
1. Lack of bandwidth and potentially limited upgrade options in the future - even with the full PCI-E x4 speed, it may be sufficient for a mid end card, but no way for a high end card which also means newer and fastercards will not be able to run at full potential as well

2. Slow processor - Most laptops that people use an eGPU with are those running on those 15W ULV CPUs, which are slower as compared to a proper desktop, and may cap the performance of the GPU

3. Expensive setup - Besides the eGPU case which cost a lot, you need a graphic card.

Personally I feel it may be better to just have a separate work laptop and gaming desktop (if space permits). The cost of a new eGPU can be used to pay for at least half of the desktop cost, including monitor.
