Wouldn't recommend such router modus operandi, later all companies start such nonsense to paywall features.Amazon eero provides good long term security updates and that is a good thing.
Certain features may be limited without eero Secure subscription but good thing is that eight/eero will offer eero Secure when you are under contract.
