eight Telecom (powered by StarHub) has opened Registration of Interest (ROI) for its debut eight Home Internet.

Delivering high 10Gbps speeds with exceptional reliability and value, eight Home Internet offers transparent pricing and customer-first service, all at just $28.80/month. The plan also comes with unique perks.

Redefining Service, the 8etter Way

eight Home Internet goes beyond traditional telco models with its Bring Your Own Router (BYOR) approach, giving customers the freedom to use their existing routers or purchase one from eight's trusted installers. This flexibility not only promotes sustainability but also helps customers avoid unnecessary costs.

What truly sets eight apart is its Service Guarantee, created to give customers peace of mind long after installation. This includes:

  • 28-day priority support via a dedicated hotline
  • Twice-yearly Internet performance check-ins to ensure consistent speed and reliability
  • An "eight Moment" welcome gift during installation
Together, these reflect eight's promise of dependable service and real value, long after the first connection.

Fast, Fair, and Built for Value

Priced at just $28.80/month, the new home broadband plan offers 10Gbps speed with no hidden fees and no unnecessary bundles - creating 8etter, faster and fuss-free connections for every home.

Customers on eight's existing 5G mobile plans can enjoy up to 18% off their broadband subscription, unlocking even greater value for households that stay connected across both mobile and home.

Let's see how it goes.
look like we going have one more choice on ISP

Nice. Eight Fibre Internet should be using StarHub network and give a good fight to WC and SIMBA.

StarHub will then get three Fibre Broadband offerings (StarHub, MyRepublic, Eight), like like their mobile services (StarHub, Giga, Eight).

It would be interesting to see if Singtel create a Gomo/Heya like thingy for Fibre Internet in case Eight gains momentum in Fibre Internet as well.

My take on Eight Fibre Internet service.

Eight will run on StarHub network and use XGS-PON network, you will get at least 3Gbps as the minimum offering.

And it is not possible to have S$8.8 Fibre Internet plan since NLT charges the ISP S$13.5 per month for residential user (1:24 split ratio).

My guess: minimum will be at S$20 per month for 3Gbps plan without router bundle.

Eight will run on StarHub network and use XGS-PON network, unlikely they will use CGNAT.

As for mobile services, I believe all are using CGNAT. But routable IPv6 Will be there, at least for 5G SA network.

Let me guess, it has to be related to eight.

5.8gbps for $18.88
8.8gbps for $28.88

Seems unrealistic to have 5.8 or 8.8

NLT charges S$13.50 per month per user (residential 1:24 split ratio) already, cannot be below that.

Edit to add:
Also not possible to have 8.8Gbps because of XGS-PON limitation.

My take on Eight Fibre Internet service.
Possible. But isn't XGS-PON old tech, that supports only up to 2.5gbps?

If they use that and NLT charges is $13.50, then if they release a 2.5gbps plan at $28.80, then it's not enticing. Simba 10gbps at $29.90 is better deal, though power users might not like the CGNAT.

All the local consumer 3Gbps/5Gbps/6Gbps/10Gbps Fibre Internet plans are using XGS-PON technology now.

XGS-PON supports up to 8.2Gbps in practice . That is why the 10Gbps plans should be called 8 Gbps plan in reality.

GPON supports up to 2.5Gbps. WC 2.5Gbps plan and Singtel 2Gbps plan still use GPON technology now.

My guess is that the minimum price for any Fibre Internet Plan (not subsidized by the government) will be around S$20 per month for any ISPs to be sustainable.

But if Eight can really offer S$18.80 per month plan (no matter at which speed, for example, 3Gbps) by leveraging StarHub Infrastructure, that would be awesome.

I see. I got confused with the GPON.

Eight is low cost, they also cannot price it above $29.99 for sure.

what the heck...

Really don't understand starhub strategy unless they going to use this sub brand as a testing platform for custom plans.

Their multi brand strategy, like their CEO said. With MyRepublic, Starhub and now eight. Going all in, as the lost the battle to acquire M1.

StarHub 3Gbps with TP-Link HB410 is at S$29.55 per month now. They charge S$120 cash and carry for HB410. But of course StarHub gets the HB410 lower than S$120, maybe only S$60.

StarHub actually has 10Gbps recontract offer of S$30.49 per month for some users, with free HB710. 10Gbps CIS offer and targets offer for giga users are at S$33.59 per month (with free HB710 as well). They charge S$192 cash and carry for HB710. But of course StarHub gets the HB710 lower than S$192, maybe only S$100).

For Eight even to compete with StarHub, they need to offer the 3Gbps plan without a router below S$24 per month.

If the price at S$28 per month as the leaked screenshot is for 3Gbps plan without or even with a router, then it is not that competitive at all, since unlikely they will offer a better router bundle than HB410 for 3Gbps.

If the price at S$28 per month as the leaked screenshot is for 10Gbps plan without a router, then that is a possibility. But then SIMBA may drop the price of 10Gbps plan to S$26 per month to beat Eight, by getting rid of the bundled D-Link Router.

All i see are just 3 macdonalds store selling the exact same menu at different price point
As for the food, who knows if there are differences. Maybe there is, maybe there aren't

If the price is at S$28 per month as the leaked screenshot, then not that competitive already
Unless it is to fight with whizzcomm which is at that exact same price for their no frills plan

S$28 per 30 days all-in would be rather attractive on a 360 day (12 cycle) contract. SIMBA offers a 360 day contract. Maybe Eight will compete in that way.
