Ok now i've got my internet up... hoping this is in my version of PSN store.

Can you get large ships or is it mostly little fighters/traders?

you can earn reputation to get either the Federal Corvette or Imperial Cutter.
Good luck trying to equip them :)

btw, size isn't everything. larger does not mean better or more powerful. it still boils down to what modules you have and your piloting skill.

Planetary Tech rework: new lighting system, material rendering pass, diversification of landscape, and more. Screenshot

Quality of Life improvements: Better Crime and Punishment (including better armed system authority), Better trading data for more informed decision making, Wing Missions, and Engineering to be reworked to guarantee improved equipment for players.

Guardian Arc to be revisited: providing new content such as Guardian tech; notably new hardpoint equipment. These will need to be unlocked for players on an individual basis (through "personal narratives"), as opposed to how we are unlocking the current AX weapons through Community Goals.

Galnet Audio: Galnet will be provided with a text-to-speech medium for its articles.

"A lot more ships to come": So far, Type-10, Krait and Chieftain ships have been confirmed. Latter two are Lakon projects in conjunction with the Alliance.

Squadrons: New platform for clan-like system offering enhanced communications for a range of players. Also offering the ability for Squadrons to purchase ship carriers, which allows players to rearm, repair, refuel and respawn.

Mining to be revisited: Devs want to invoke a feeling of "Wild West Prospecting", giving players new tools to find and exploit ore reserves.

Planetary Terrain Rework: Addition of Rock Scatter update for larger size and scale of terrain objects, along with localised fog effects too in order to make different planet types feel more distinct from one another. Art Target for Icy Planets

Exploration to be revisited: Will be updated to add a suite of new activities to find and engage with. In addition to Exploration missions and a Codex to log discoveries and act as a sort of encyclopedia for space anomalies. With the addition of new effects, phenomenae and anomalies to discover. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...r-One-Beta-Announcement?p=6289277#post6289277

Today we're pleased to announce that you'll be able to test Chapter 1 of the series in the open beta coming to all PC Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons players on Thursday 25 January!

As always we welcome your feedback in our dedicated feedback livestreams, and on the beta and bug report forums. These beta tests have always been an incredibly useful and valuable part of development, and Beyond Chapter 1 will be no exception. Because of the huge number of core feature enhancements, the introduction of a new ship, and other numerous additions and improvements, we want to be sure that as many of you are able to experience and test the beta first-hand, for that reason we have decided to open this beta to all players of Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons on PC.

We'll publish a full list of changes on beta launch day, but come along to our content livestreams on Tuesday 16 January at 7PM GMT and Thursday 18 January at 7PM GMT for a closer look at everything in this update. In the meantime, you can see a short summary of some of the features below.

New Ship: Chieftain
Elite Dangerous Horizons Commanders will also be able to take to the stars in the new Alliance Chieftain, designed not only to dish out punishment, but to avoid it. Manufactured by Lakon Spaceways, the Chieftain is more maneuverable than ships of similar size and weight, and its combat profile means it can more than hold its own in a fight.

Improved Core Mechanics
Chapter 1 of Beyond will bring improvements to some of Elite Dangerous' core mechanics, including accessibility enhancements to the engineering mechanics, an overhaul of mission rewards and big changes to crime and punishment. We’ll be sharing more information on the changes to Crime and Punishment, and the Engineers in a future post here on the forums and in the livestreams mentioned above.

Wing Missions
Chapter 1 of Beyond will give you the chance to take on wing missions with your fellow Commanders, sharing both the efforts and rewards.

Revised Trade Data
Commanders will now be able to access trade data from systems they have previously visited, in order to make more informed decisions when shipping goods across the Milky Way.

Planetary Visual Improvements
Chapter 1 also includes the first of the planetary visual improvements coming as part of the Beyond series of updates (with more surface level improvements coming later in the year) bringing a new vibrancy to the Elite Dangerous galaxy.

GalNet Audio
With the introduction of GalNet Audio, you will be able to catch up on the latest news from across the galaxy without ever leaving the action.

You can find the beta details below:

• When? 25 January 2018
• Who? This beta is open to everyone on PC and Mac

One of Elite’s original fighters, the Krait, is getting a redesign and reissue in Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter Two, the next free update to Frontier Development’s vast space game.

The light fighter has been redesigned in the spirit of the original, but, as you can see in the latest instalment of The Commander Chronicles series of cinematic shorts from the world of Elite Dangerous, it's been significantly upgraded in the Mk II generation.

“You might think of the Krait Mk II as analogous to modern updates of the real-world Mini Cooper or Volkswagen Beetle,” narrative lead Ian Dingwall tells us. “It’s a reimagining of a classic that connects conceptually and aesthetically with the ship from 1984s Elite, while offering enough innovation and quality to compete with contemporary rivals in Elite Dangerous. While the Mk II embodies the essence of the original, it’s very much its own ship."

The Enclave is drawing to a close, but we wanted to give you a heads-up of what this means ahead of tomorrow's planned GalNet article. Starting from tomorrow (8 August), the following will occur:

In light of the outstanding efforts from all the commanders who contributed to this endeavor, the Superpowers will begin to colonise more systems in the region over the next few weeks.
A newly-appointed Engineer, Chloe Sedesi, will be located in the planetary port, Cinder Dock (in Witch Head Sector DL-Y d17). She will be offering upgrades on Frame Shift Drives and Thrusters. Just like the engineers in Colonia, Chloe's abilities to engineer modules will increase the more commanders employ her services.
A Tech Broker and a Material Trader will be bringing their services to the planetary ports in Bray Landing (Witch Head Sector LC-V c2-9) and Ratchet Hub (Witch Head Sector EB-X c1-7).
This concludes The Enclave and with it comes a new broker recipe. Commanders across the galaxy will be able to create a unique Thargoid Interceptor Bobblehead.

btw SG squadrons are going to be up soon. Let me know if interested. Will start on PC, but since the BGS is not dependent on platform every member will help contribute. That is if there are still local players for this game on consoles.

In a similar fashion to our Lavecon 2019 reveals, we wanted to give all of you who couldn't join us at our Gamescom Frontier Community Meet a rundown of all the details that just dropped... or should we say hauled in here by the aid of... a Fleet Carrier!
