external hdd use as internal hdd

I don't understand how come external hdd is much cheaper than internal hdd.

Take for example, this 8TB seagate external desktop:

it's only about $24x SGD. While a normal internal 3.5" 8TB HDD cost much more than that..

I myself had been using 3TB external WD hdd as internal HDD for years without issue. Last time bought at $150 when all the 3TB internal hdd cost $2xx++

you might lose out on speed if you're not using the appropriate connections for external. plus, there's the risk of dropping it and what not. also, if you remove it from the hdd enclosure, pretty sure that voids the warranty. and i dont think most people who go for external have much knowledge on how to remove it from the enclosure and install it in their pc case.

Drive used in external HDD usually has a smaller cache memory than their internal counterpart. As such, speed performance is affected.
