Looking for feedback on this desktop from Dell website.


Mainly for gaming wise - (looking for approx 1.5k-2k budget)

The Dell G5090 is a decent gaming machine for its price and reason of existence.

The 2060 is able to produce over 100fps on 1080p gaming and over 60fps on 1440p with no bottleneck with 9700 in general apart from couple of monstrous AAA titles.

However, 8 cores is overkill for 2060 unless you are looking to do beyond gaming e.g. streaming while gaming.

Customisation is ideal if your primary use is gaming and information on your monitor resolution and refresh rates would be useful together with the types of games you play and your expected frames etc.

If you are comfortable to take the step into building a pc, you would realise that besides having a system tailored to your needs, you could also be spending less than your budget. However, you will be on your own when it comes to troubleshooting and servicing individual parts in the event of a failure. Thanks to the forum, these process could be made easier with many people guiding through with you. Otherwise if getting your hands dirty is not your cup of tea, personally couldn't agree more that the Dell G5090 is worth considering given that it comes with 3 years on site warranty.

Ideally for gaming only machine, you would want 6 cores CPU such as intel 9400F or Ryzen 3600. 16GB DDR4. 512GB NVME M.2. The largest part of your budget should go to the GPU. If you are into battle royale or competitive esports titles and have not already had a 144hz gaming monitor, you would certainly want to advocate the budget into a tactical screen to tap the most out of your GPU.

Same price but you get better specs. Just the 2070 alone will be much bigger difference for gaming. 3 years warranty and 1 year onsite.

just for additional warranty info about Dell, they outsource onsite support to 3rd party company (not sure if its still NCS?) and they will replace refurbished parts on your new PC if any parts of you new PC got damaged during the warranty period, ie... if the GFX card damaged during the first 14 days of warranty, they will replace it with a refurbished card and not a brand new one.

your call is routed to Australia support centre and Sat/Sun they don't send service pple... only during business hours.

Careful. Dell might not be using parts that you can get from shops that can easily be replaced. Some of their components might be OEM. Making it harder for you to replace or upgrade your PC in the future.

To escape all these headaches later on, best to buy from Boutique PC builders like Aftershock and Dreamcore.

I'd advice going for Dreamcore as their after service is a lot better and they care about their PC builds.

Since parts of the PC are made from off the shelf parts, you can easily replace your graphics card, Ram and all in the future by going with either Boutique builder PCs.

Get the alienware Level 3/4 gaming series, if you're too lazy to assemble like me.
If you are in no hurry, then wait for PC shows promotion deals. (300-500 discounts).
Be aware, all parts are dell proprietory (except CPU, hdds) so buy dell 3yrs warranty if you prepare to keep it for long terms.

Which tier of support were you on? So far my experience with Premium and ProSupport no longer than a few minutes waiting time. All were call centres in Malaysia.
