Anyone on Singtel can kindly advise how is their data coverage for 3G and 4G?

Am on M1 and its greatly disappointing. They claim to have island wide coverage for 4G yet I have NO coverage at my work place and intermittent coverage at home.

In fact, even for 3G, I have NO coverage at work and intermittent coverage at home.

I work at Bukit Timah area and stay in Sengkang. Not exactly the most ulu of areas. Yet, as mentioned above, intermittent coverage at home and ZERO coverage at work.

Needless to say, I am not impressed. Am seriously considering switching to Singtel, so will appreciate any comments you have about their 3G and 4G coverage. Thanks!

As a Singtel user, I can't wait to switch to M1 :( They are just getting greedier in terms of data cost. No way I'm renewing my contract with them for 4G, who knows? Later in the year they may increase the cost per GB to $20 from the $5.

I'm still on 3G, 12GB plan. Have not tried 4G before, but the 3G coverage is usually quite good. In places such as underground (eg: Raffles place mrt), tunnels (highway), etc..
What phone are you using now? It does matter btw..

I'm using iPhone 5 and have pre-ordered Note 3. Why? How does it affect?

Although I anti Singtel, but I got my reason as a Singtel user for 4 years.

1: Less value plan. They have more SMS / MMS but less talk time for $59 and above plans. ($239 for Unlimited Talktime + SMS, $198 from M1 for Unlimited Talktime + 2000 SMS or $59 for 200 min from Singtel VS 300 mins from M1). However, with the proliferation of smartphones, who will use SMS / MMS frequently.

Last time when Starhub provides free SMS and MMS (Meaning 1 SMS = 1 MMS), Singtel was the only telco not to do so and that era was before smartphone exists.

2: No per second billing. At least Starhub charges per second after initial minute block. Singtel just hack care and the problem is sometimes I put my handphone next to my laptop and their 2Wire router (With Wi-Fi), I get no phone call. This is the problem comes in because Singtel's nice gesture of sending SMS missed call alert is something extra while the other Singtel line charged a minute for going to Voice mail. (Which is also part of less value plan)

3: 4G coverage is data only. It is not for normal voice call. Hence, 3G coverage is important as well. Sadly, Singtel is also not performing exceptionally well (More like on par, based on other reviews and personal Singtel only experience) for the less value they are giving. By the way, I had personal experience of not being able to call using a HSDPA phone during Suntec book fair this year and heard of people complaining of cannot even make a simple call on their smartphone on outside Expo MRT during one of the earlier IT show this year, however I cannot determine which telco they are using in the first place. Hence, I can say, the coverage for all telcos are really sama sama and just go for best long term value plan, which is sadly for you, M1.

PS: Either way, there is no 4G coverage in MRT tunnels as the shared infrastructure among 3 telcos is set to be done by 2018. By the way, did you try to feedback to M1 before?

Seriously what is the use of feedback to M1. Doubt they will invest more $ and im sure others have already made noise.

Because when HWZ testers test the 4G randomly and found SIM has a dead spot for M1.

Subsequently, they have had feedback to M1 and they had promptly clarified it.

But the main point is, regardless of telco, due to over-populated (Don't discount the pre-paid card force who are using data as well) city nowadays, I doubt any telco can give a better coverage and value than M1.

Using Singtel is more like a placebo effect for this matter.

I think each telco has their weak and strong spot in Singapore.

I faced the same issue with M1. Back at home no 3G and 4G. No issue with Singtel and Starhub (parents are using).

Reported this coverage issue with M1, was inform that the problem because I’m staying at high floor (HDB flat). They are unable to do anything and was told M1 has archive 99% coverage on STREET LEVEL! TMD!

So nothing to say Terminate and move on with another Telco.

I see Singtel and Starhub improving the coverage over my area.

Try not to use Starhub bro. Their bill must check properly one hor.
They have alot of place totally no data one. You call their contact centre they will
Take maybe 2-3 weeks to reply your problem. Also at night maybe from 11pm
Onwards data very very slow, or sometimes totally no network. For now better stick
To your m1 first.
