First foray into investments with $3000

i was thinking if i should try both long term investments as well as short term tradings. what are the options available for me for short term moderate risk trading?

What's your risk appetite? How much are you prepared to lose? I wouldn't advise going into penny and please don't try contra. Your money will be gone before you know it. Start to read up on shares, bonds etc. How to get started I.e opening accounts for future use.

yeah, but if next day i need emergency fund? then how? sell ilp and immediately take back the amount? and if lets say in the future, i decided to liqiduate my ilp because i need cash, then my insurance coverage how liao? buy a new insurance plan with a higher premium?

just my concerns when i deciding whether to buy ilp or not

ILP.......my biggest mistake.....sigh.....:(

ILP is just term insurance + unit trust packaged together isn't it ?
If really like it so much, might as well separate it out and pay less "fees" :)
Wider range of unit trusts to choose from too. Cash out w/o affecting the protection part.
Plus u wont get into the situation in which u have ZERO units in the 1st year due to outlay
