Thinking of planning a trip with my partner to China in 2024
Will be our first time to China for leisure
Personally, i have been to SHA and SZX for work

Any suggestion where to visit for a 5 to 7 days itinerary?
Thanks in advance!

5 day, then just Beijing.
If 7 days, can visit Beijing & Xian.

Things to note:

1. Get Alipay or Wechat pay (weixin) and linked to your debit/credit card. Everywhere is using one or both including local transport like subway and buses. Use cash for any transaction more than 200RMB to avoid platform fee.
2. Get a data roaming sim card with a China tel number. This is because some places of interest can be booked online without need to queue for tickets but they need a china mobile phone number to send verification code. SG number is not valid there. This is my experience from recent trip 2 weeks ago to Zhangjiajie. Also at the airport upon arrival, they insist must filled in a China phone number (can use hotel tel number) and hotel address on the arrival form.

You can use hotel tel number. Also try to buy the China SIM here on Shopee or Lazada because there is no censorship.

Shopee china sim is data only right? Where to buy one with china phone number

Hi,

Could you elaborate "Also at the airport upon arrival, they insist must filled in a China phone number (can use hotel tel number) and hotel address on the arrival form."
You mean the immigration officer at the counter insists a China phone number must be filled in the arrival form? I remembered pre-c0vid just filled in hotel address will do.

I put in my SG phone nbr and my bf's address in Beijing.

Never in my memory that they scrutinize so closely. As long as it's not empty, it's ok.

for my most recent three trips, I just put SG phone number and local hotel name (e.g. St Regis Beijing).

Went to Nanning 2 weeks ago. Filled in my Sg number and was rejected. Lucky I had my hotel booking in my phone, so just wrote the hotel tel number and full address. Never encounter this before pre-covid when I went to Beijing and Kuming.

So advise to stand by just in case.
