Heading to Tokyo for a week stay in the first week of December, any special suggestions for that period? I have been to Tokyo many times but so far only for Spring and Summer season so December is new from a seasonal perspective. Will it be too late generally for fall colours? Any particular day trips to consider?

First week December Tokyo is ideal for fall colours in Kamakura. 1h30m by local trains. If you love cycling you can rent a bike and cycle up to all the temples and attractions in Kamakura.

Another location is Sankeien Garden in the southern part of Yokohama, also good for late fall colours. Another short 1h train to Yokohama and a bus to the park.

But before you go to these 2 places.. Aoyama Icho Namiki aka Ginko Avenue in Tokyo itself peaks at the end of Nov/start of Dec. Looks great in the day and night light up.

Might be able to catch tail end of the Koyo season.

That timing also at night can see christmas night illumination!

Wow thanks for the ideas I wasn’t too sure if we would be too late for koyo and too early for Christmas! Sounds fantastic :D
