For $500 which tablet to get?

ipad is excellent but it's also overkill for TS parents' simple needs. get something that fulfil their simple needs. Don't expect tablet to last more than 4 or 5yrs due to battery degradation, lack of support, etc, but be prepared to replace it at end of lifespan.
