the main criteria is you need:

- a camera with full manual controls (ISO, Shutter speed, aperture), comes standard built in for any DSLR or mirrorless.

- a fast and wide lens, because you are taking landscape, and it is night scene. The lens that come with the camera body (kit lens) won't be up to such task. this will likely be the most expensive part of the effort and will test how badly do you want a 'good quality' end result. if you think $500 is a lot, thats probably barely enough to cover the cost of the fast wide lens, let alone the tripod + camera body.

- not compulsory but preferably a hands-free way to shoot a photo. theres wireless remote, some camera brands got smartphone app to do remote shutter. This is to avoid touching the camera (it needs to be still when taking the long exposure shot, else got motion blur)

- a tripod that can support the camera (again cos you need the camera to be totally still for several seconds, between 4-10 seconds of zero movement per photo). the more windy the location, the more effort you need to make the tripod steady so it's important to consider.

- the knowledge on how to shoot long exposure photography (using the manual controls to set a long shutter speed)

- the knowledge on how to do manual focus (specifically focus to infinity as you are taking a far away subject)

why not check reviews. the M100 is mainstream enough that places like DP Review already have comprehensive reviews

if ask on forum its mostly anecdotal advice which may or may not suit your use case for example a M100 owner who only shoots stills may not tell u that the M100 cant shoot 4k, but then if u are the type who need 4k video then u later on then realise no 4k only after u bought the product its too late.

m100 got tons of reviews in youtube, even lenses. if it feature suit you. then maybe you can go court or camera shop or Canon singapore HQ go see & hold it.
Thats what i do.
i choose it because
1) compact (i will use for travelling)
2)cheapest mirrorless. (Brand new got factory smell)
3)i dont need 4K video.
4) function of the cam really suit beginner. can shoot RAW too(non-demanding like me) for the price you paid

-no handgrip
-drain battery faster than sony
-not as natural as compare with sony.

those experts recommend me a6000 or rx100..... which so out of my budget

thanks, but i don't really buy expensive stuff online...

already got burnt a couple of times... from various websites, including lazada.

last time i bought a branded bag for my gf from lazada.... a few hundreds. the guy just left at the door, never even squeeze in the gate, just put on the floor. heng heng no one take sia.

qoo10 also... their listing very long, and sometimes so many in one, i always tend so select wrong item, don't have the time to read and double check everything.

ebay stuff always go missing.

so i try to stay away from online ordering. maybe might consider those order and collect at pickup points... but again... i order online to deliver to my house, not to detour to collect again.

oh and fyi.... online i saw $800 (export set, no local warrenty), $850 with "agent" warrenty. i just don't dare to take the risk. both not canon authorise dealer so no free gift.
