For those who need help to burn your ISO linux image onto the disk

It is alive and stickied for a long time.

DVDs are pretty obsolete. I recommend Unetbootin or the Ubuntu Startup Disk maker. Just burn the .iso into a 2GB thumbdrive.

Doesn't require installation on Windows, just run the downloaded program. Linux users have to make sure the full install of 7zip.

A normal 2GiB USB flashdrive is enough for a "DVD sized" distro.

Another new tool for you distro whores.

If you like to try many many distros and have a 8GiB USB drive, I think 4GiB also can, this is the tool for you

You can burn as many .iso files and this program will give you a menu to boot each "liveCD" to try. I found this tool to be biased against the other distros since he lists more Ubuntu versions in it. Some bugs though. Doesn't work on #! 10 and Debian Live. Need another special tool for these two and you cannot multiboot with them.

In the event that Unetbootin and YUMI written LiveCDs give trouble, you have to install it unto a USB with Image Writer

I tested these with #! 10 and Debian Live, the USB loaded them with no errors especially with the UTF-8 error. Keep it around just in case.

Using it can be a little confusing. It looks for .img files. So in the file input section, type in "*.iso" and enter. All the .iso files will show up for you to use. Make sure you write into the correct drive. Just be careful you don't write it to the 500GiB drive you mounted.

Now to install the distros into a USB drive, you need to format it clean. What these utilities like YUMI and Unetbootin does is just copy files over and make them bootable.

Some large USB sticks are partitioned thanks to previous distro installs. So you have to repartition it. It is troublesome. So we got RMPREPUSB.

install this program.

For distro on a stick, make sure the USB stick is set to non-bootable and FAT32. Then prepare drive. As simple as that. It will close all windows since it is a DOS operation.

It will partition it entirely to one partition and format. Quick and easy.
