I used to have an iPhone and I still have an iMac. My SMS messages were all sent via iMessage back then. I recently switched to Samsung and realised that messages which my friends send me via their iPhone are still coming through via my iMac but NOT my Samsung. Strangely, they don't even come in as regular SMS.

So I fiddled around and logged out from iMessage on my iMac. I figured that since I am technically no longer on iMessage things will be okay. Apparently not. I still do not receive message that my friends send me from their iPhone. It still comes in as an iMessage which I don't get on my Samsung, not even as a SMS. And since I logged out of iMessage on my iMac, I don't get it there either.

Long story short, I just want to get rid off iMessage completely and want to be able to received messages from friends on my Samsung phone as SMS. Currently the iPhones still seem to think my iPhone exists.

Can anyone help please? Thanks!

u need to ask your friend to remove your email address/apple ID from their contact list...

the reason why those messages were sent as imessage is due to their contact list listed your apple id/email address and phone and by default, iproducts will sent via imessage. Once they remove that and only contain your phone number in their contact, it will then by just regular SMS tied to SIM card
