Get a room, not a cubicle, please.

Frisky Couple Makes Headlines For Hogging Handicap Toilet For An Hour During Beijing Peak Hour

In China, people celebrate love on May 20, aka 'Chinese Valentine's Day', because the numbers "5-2-0" sound a lot like "Wo Ai Ni" or "I love you" in Mandarin.

But even though love is in the air, there still must be a place and time for everything, right?

On the recent 520, a young Chinese couple found themselves in the news after they hogged a handicap toilet at a Beijing train station for more than an hour.

According to reports, the janitor had planned to clean the toilet at 6.10pm, which was peak hour, when she realised the cubicle was occupied.

She also saw a long queue of people, including elderly and those in wheelchairs, waiting outside.

The janitor would return to check on the toilet every 15 minutes, only to find it still occupied every time. Fed up, she knocked on the door repeatedly until finally getting a reply.

"Wait a minute," said a voice.

The situation reportedly persisted for so long that the janitor and those waiting outside started to get worried something bad had happened inside.

Hence, they started banging on the door.

It was only then that a couple walked out with their heads bowed. The girl was also holding onto a piece of garment that resembled stockings.

We don't think we need to spell out what the couple was doing in the toilet. Netizens, too, were outraged after connecting the dots too.

Some said handicap toilets are designed to help those with special needs and not for couples and their quickies. One netizen also said being in love isn't an excuse for the couple to "lose all morals".

A self-proclaimed legal expert has argued that the couple's actions should be considered illegal and they be punished by the law.

According to the Beijing Rail Transit Operation Safety Rules, commuters are expected to observe public order and are not allowed to obstruct others from usual activities. Handicap toilets are also considered special facilities, and have to be used under strict regulations.

Seriously though, just how frisky was the couple to have to do it in a handicap toilet in the middle of the day?

Shame shame.
