hi

i am using a Philips 27 inch G Sync monitor.

anyone using this as well?

i like to ask if you can manually set the refresh rate like the one in Asus ROG?
60 to 120 to 144 Hz?

my FPS cannot hit over 60 when i am using the Philips but the monitor clearly label 144 Hz ....

from what i understand...... if u set the refresh rate, then what is the point of G-sync? and is your hardware capable of churning out 144fps for the game you are playing?

G sync is more towards matching low refresh rate to low fps, and nt for high fps de. U dun need g sync for high fps.

Gsync is an so call upgraded version of vsync. But however, if your hardware is not even capable to pull higher fps rate it will turn out to be the same result.

One good example was during nvidia maxwell launch event. Asus tri 144hz tn panel was powered by dual 970s strix. It was getting around 40fps to 50fps range on single player mode (which is not intensive as multiplayer mode). The gsync is unable to do any good. From a certain distance you can see it isnt smooth at all. And worse at heavy rendering times, it went below 30fps. The stuttering becomes more obvious.

based on my limited understanding, G Sync prevent screen tearing.

i have two setups which are very capable rigs. one in Singapore and one in Taiwan.

The SG one is running two Titan Z cards in SLI (Quad) and the TW one is running 2 X 980 in SLI. The SG monitor is the 1080p Philips G Sync which has no way of changing refresh rate. it is stuck at 60 hz for some games while it is ok for other games. The TW monitor is the Asus ROG 1440p G Sync which has 3 hardware mode, 60/120/144Hz. Everytime i change the rate, the FPS (using Fraps) rises to match the refresh rate. Most of the time, the image is perfect at 120 fps and 120 Hz.... however stocks for Asus is hard to find now.

so i google around, no resource on how to change the refresh rate for the Philips G Sync. It is marketed as 144Hz on the box and on the monitor frame as well....
