Gaming rig suggestion

Hi bros,

I have a 2.5k budget to spend for a new rig. Im not getting a monitor, keyboard, mouse, optical drive and speakers and I plan to OC my system.

Below are my 'dream' components:

ASUS Sabertooth Z87
I7 - 4770K (Shall I change this to an i5 instead)

Samsung 840 Pro 256 gb (Any other better value for money SDD out there?)

MSI GTX 780 Lightning (May be a little overkill i suspect)

Corsair Vengence 1600M CL9 L/Profile 16 gb

Seasonic X 650W (or 750W)

Corsair Obsidian 650D (Prefer one with good airflow and cable management options)

WD Black 1Tb HDD

Problem is it adds up to around $3099. I will really love to reduce to $2500 without compromising on the quality to game on a 27 inch monitor at ultra settings for games like Crysis 3.

Any advice would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

MSI Z87-G43 (gave you this board since u not gonna SLI)
G.Skills Ripjaws-X 2x4gb 1600mhz (since it is about the same price as other rams now)
Plextor M5P Xtreme 256gb (cheaper than the samsung 840 pro, but slower in benchmarks. in real life, cant feel the diff)
WD Black 1TB
Seasonic m12ii 650W (no need 750w gold, 650w will do le.)
Corsair 600T White (quite nice design + good cable management, go watch linustechtips on the white ver.)
Wins7 Home premium 64-bit

For gpu, wait for AMD to release their gpu by end oct before getting. Who knows, it may be cheaper and better than 780, depending on the model.

Since you say its your dream mobo. So I won't touch the mobo and let it be a sabertooth board.

Windows 7 home premium 64bit ~ $115

Total $2486 buy at tradepac. Diy

Drop to i5. You don't need an i7 to game.

Change the ram to 8gb. Unless you open 30+ ie tabs and super heavy multi tasking.

Take the WD blue. No point going black not unless you have intensive read and write items on HDD.

Plextor m5p slightly better performance over price and comes with 5 year warranty.

If got ssd Liao don't have to get caviar black,not worth the cost
Plextor ssds more bang for $ I think,cheaper as well iirc
Sabertooth is overkill,might want to drop to z87-pro/plus
Your case super expensive for a mid tower wor,can get decent full tower at that pricing

Sorry to hijack abit, but I'm kind of like in TS's shoes and considering buying Sabertooth board also. 1 plus factor for me is the 5 year warranty, do the other boards offer 5 year warranty Or is it even worth paying for that extra 2 years?

He wants a dream mobo. It is honestly overkill in almost every aspects. So just stick to whatever original intention you have.
